SCANDAL IN THE WHITE HOUSE
For quite some time now, this nation, has been following the continuing saga of the president, and how he is being investigated for wrongdoing on several fronts.

First, we have a 'sex' scandal, in which several women, have come forward to charge that he had
sex with them or that he asked for it. They claim it happened before he became president. However, there seems to be an investigation on one front, that' if found to be true, could grounds for impeachment.

It is alleged, that he was trying to interfere with the investigation of these accusations, by influencing witnesses to lie to the investigators. This is obstruction of justice, an impeachable offense.

Well, I don't know who is right or wrong in this area, seeing I don't know all the facts. But, one thing I do know, and that is, this investigation, is making the whole nation look bad.

From the offset, let me say, I don't particularly care for him, or his politics, so I am a little biased in my opinion of him. However, I realize, that everyone of us, regardless of our race, sex, religion, status, or age, has some things in our past, that we would like to keep secret. And because of that, I see that things are getting a little out of hand.

Some of us, heard about his character, before he was elected to the office the first time. We were told that he was one that was able to slip out of the 'draft' by some shady means. We were told that he couldn't be trusted. We were told that he would say one thing one day, then the next day, act like he didn't say it. The bottom line is, we were told that he had 'no character.' The response from his supporters was, and I quote, 'character, doesn't matter... it's the issues that matter.'

Now, I don't know how you feel about it, but someone that doesn't have any character, is not to be entrusted with any thing valuable, especially the governing of the world's most powerful nation. However, the 'character' issue, wasn't that convincing at the time, so he got elected.

In my opinion, he got elected, because there was an angry backlash against then president George Bush, for raising taxes, after he promised in that famous statement, 'Read my lips. No new taxes.'
That showed a lack of character on his part. A man of character, should be one that says what he means, and means what he says. He doesn't use slipshod phrases, that leave people wondering where he is coming from. So people voted against him (Bush), for a second term. That left two other people to vote for. And of those two, Bill Clinton got the nod. Just for the record, Clinton, was the first president to be elected, with under half of the vote. I believe he got between 35 - 42 percent of the total votes cast. George Bush, and H. Ross Perot, split the other 65-58 percent . So, in other words, more than half of the country's votes were ignored, and a minority of voters choice won. Now, that sounds backwards to me. Why didn't we have a run off election, between

the two top vote getters, to make sure that the one that won, had the support of a majority of voters??

Maybe we should pursue that in the next elections, if there are more than two candidates running for president.

Well, since he has been in office, I have seen that the character issue, was one that we should have taken heed to. Many of the people that were his close 'pals' if you will, were nominated for posts in his administration. Some made it, and others didn't. However, a lot of those that made it, have since been indicted or had to resign, because of their past wrongdoings, which leaves one thinking, if these were Cllinton's 'pals', while he was governor of Arkansas, how much of their activities was he involved in himself?? To date, he holds the record for having the most members of any administration having to leave or being indicted for criminal or shady behavior. They say, 'birds of a feather, flock together.'

But, to get back to my point, this investigation, and the 'media circus' surrounding it, can only hurt the entire office of the presidency, and cause other nations, to lose respect for the office, and therefore the nation. And who knows where that will lead? As it stands right now, many people think that the main characters behind this attack on Clinton, are his political enemies, the Republicans, the fact of the matter is, there are serious issues to look at, and there needs to be a better way of doing it.

Let us remember one thing, and that is, no man is perfect. We all make mistakes, and in some cases, we get caught, at the most inopportune moments, while others get caught later. So, irregardless of who it is that is bringing the accusations, they need to be investigated. So, Bill Clinton, may just be getting what he has been skating by before he took office, if he is really guilty.

Many are calling for the investigations to stop. But, what will that accomplish?? The suspicion will still be there.

It's a hard one to call. Stop investigations, and let a possibly guilty person off free. Or keep investigating, and possibly do irreparable damage to the presidential office. Both of these, leave us with a bitter taste in our mouths. Who do we trust?? Who do we believe?? Clinton, who denies everything, or his accusers??? Which way do we go??

Well, seeing that we can't make up our minds who to believe, I would say, to pray for both of them. The bible urges us to pray for our leaders. It also urges us to pray, before we make decisions on who we will choose to lead us.

In choosing a leader, we need to get all the information we can, both pro and con, and make our decisions accordingly. Most of us, don't do that. We listen to men, who usually have a vested interest in a person getting elected.

The promises that people make, may sound good, but, are they feasible, empty, or just plain lies. We have more people elected to office, that have had no intention of doing what they said, or who had to backtrack when they found out that the 'party bosses' wouldn't let them do it.

Some of you , will vote a person in to office, just because of who they are, irrespective of what they have done. I could name many politicians, in one party, that should have been put out to pasture, after their first two terms. But, because of their names, they just keep on getting re-elected. I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw a Mack truck. Then, they come to us, and tell us to vote for someone, based on their reputation, and you do it.

All these problems in the Clinton white house, have basically come about, because of our stupidity in electing officials to represent us. Let us remember this, many times, things that politicians promise to do, may not seem like the right thing, because they may hurt us, but, that may be the right thing to do.

Contrast this, with those promising to give us whatever we want. They come a dime a dozen, and will try to propose things that sound good, but will lead to disaster. [Pr 14:12]        There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death, reminds us that just because something seems good, it may bring us 'big trouble.'

From my stand point, when voting for a person, I compare what they are proposing to do, with the only reliable source of information I can get, and that is the Word of God, the bible. If it (the bible) doesn't agree with what they are proposing, I reject them. Too many of us, vote them in, even though the bible says what they are proposing, is wrong. And mind you, if they refuse to change their stance, if questioned about it, then you will be going against God, if you vote for them.

Some of them, like Clinton, changed their stance on certain issues until they got elected, and then reverted back to what they proposed in the first place. A person like this, is one of 'no character.' You don't really know where they are coming from.

So, Clinton's problems, are his own, and because he got in office, his problems, are now threatening to do serious harm to this nation, both inwardly, and out. All because we didn't seek God, in making our decisions. I hope we do better, this next election, or we will simply add to them.

It can't be stressed enough. We have to do more than take someone's word, or getting caught up in an emotional frame of mind, when electing these people. Did you know, that before Jesus picked his disciples, He prayed??? If He had to do it, then how much more should we have to do it, when selecting our leaders??? Politicians, spend millions of dollars to advertise, hoping to get our votes. Some of the good ones, you may not know are out there, because they don't want to be trying to buy our votes, or they may not have enough money to compete with the big guys.

Maybe it's time to give them a glance.

This nation, which claims to be, 'one nation under God', surely seems to go out of its way to elect those, that are trying to turn us away from Him. And when that happens, we will be in for total, hell.

It is our faith and belief in God, that has made us the nation that we are, today. But, just as Israel was strong when they followed God's directions, when they turned away from, to serve other gods(ideologies, if you will), they suffered. That's what is happening to us.

If we refuse to take heed to the leaders we elect, and compare them to what God says a leader should be, then we truly deserve what we get.

We were warned about Clinton, but we ignored it, because he promised to give us 'security in our minds' through a new host of social programs and such. In other words, he was trying to buy our votes. And we, or rather you, fell for it, hook line and sinker. Now we have a sure enough mess on our hands.

You asked for, and you got it.

Remember this (Jas 1:17) Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. Only God, can promise something and deliver it, with no strings attached.
