(MESSAGE TO THE CHURCH [2])
SCRIPTURE - ISA 1:18-20 APRIL, 2007
Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be
as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
SUBJECT - MESSAGE TO THE CHURCH (2)
The message for this month, is a continuation of last month's message, addressing the church, and what it is supposed to be teaching, and what it is actually doing.
For as long as I have been saved, and in some instances, before that, I have seen a lot of hypocrisy coming out of the mouths of people that profess that they are Christians.
By that, I mean, they say one thing, one minute, then, say something else, the next. Their lives are usually addressed, or rather geared to one thing, and that is usually, what is pleasing to themselves. That is, of course unless there is some dire consequence looming in front of them, then, in most instances, they will look for divine intervention, by calling on God.
Now, when it comes to those that are, as the bible calls them, the ungodly, I would expect them to be of this mindset. Because, they, have no recognition of God, in their day to day affairs, as they go merrily through life.
It is not unusual for them to chalk up their life experiences, along the line of luck, or their ability to see the road to success, and take it. Their education, their family, their friends, who they know, or as I mentioned, the luck of the draw, all play a part in their success.
When problems arise, they quickly seek advice from one of these relationships, and if things go well, they will give thanks to them. Consequently, if things don't go well, then they, once again, will blame them.
When this advice is given, the individual seeking it, will examine the matter, and will look at, how comfortable they are with it. Just because some advice is given, even by close family, and friends, is no assurance that the individual will take it.
What usually happens, is that the individual usually will base their decision, on how comfortable they are, with it. Is it going to cause them to have to alter their lives?? Is it going to cause them discomfort?? How will it make them look to others??
Usually pride, and ego, are the most prevalent factors, in determining their willingness to follow advice of others.
The bible tells us that, Prv 16:18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. Meaning, that the leading causes for the destruction of one's life, are pride, and a self righteous, know it all, better than anyone else, spirit.
When you have to deal with a person, that is, as the ungodly would say, 'full of themselves', you might as well be talking to a brick wall, because, nothing you say will get through to them. They have, in fact, become their own worst enemy.
Now, lets look at what the so-called Christians, that I am talking about in this message, are doing.
First, a Christian, a 'true Christian.', is one that has forsaken the ways of the ungodly, as mentioned above. They have turned away from following their own mind, and ways of thinking. Their whole focus is, as the apostle
Paul says, Phi 3:13-14 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. He realized, that the knowledge, and position he attained, prior to his encounter with Christ, was, in his own words, dung.
Today's so-called Christian, tries to hold on to their worldly, ungodly way of thinking, and mix the word of God, with it. They don't want to forget the past. Their knowledge, from back then, is what got them this far, and it will take them even further.
Well, what does this way of thinking do?? It renders the word of God, and our relationship to Him, ineffective, and obsolete.
How??
Because, we, or rather they, are essentially telling God, that they know what is best for themselves, and not God. Therefore, if God says something they are doing, is wrong, they will weigh it along the lines of, what the past, or previous knowledge has done for them. And, if they can't see how God's advice, will benefit them, then, 'to hell with it.'
But, notice the subject verse.
It starts out with, God asking us to reason together, with Him. That means, let's discuss the issues. Let's look at them, from His viewpoint. What is the end result, of His way of doing things, and ours??
That is the key question. What is our end result??
Jesus put it like this, Mat 7:24-27 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.
These so-called Christians, are building their (houses) lives, on the sand of their ungodly knowledge and wisdom. Therefore, while things seem to be going good, when the storms of life hit, and believe me, they will, they are in for a great fall.
And, what is God's response to them??? Well, if they won't listen to His reasoning, they will be cut off from His Help. They can pray, they can fast, they can cry, wail, and moan, but it won't do them any good. He will not hear, or answer them.
John 9:31 Now we know that God heareth not sinners [those that repeatedly ignore His instruction]: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.
What would a life be without God's help?? One word. HELL!!!
You wonder why so many of these so-called Christians, are going through the things they are going through, and leaving the church, for other religions like Islam, Buddhism, and such?? It is because they can't make things work, like they think they should.
They think that God, is like a genie in a bottle, that is eager to grant their wishes, like they are His master, instead of the other way around.
When some true Christian, tells them about a God of love, that heals all manner of disease, and blesses His Children (saved), and how they are victorious in all things, as the bible says they are, these so-called Christians, think those are old wives tales, with no ounce of truth, or that they were for times past, and not for us today.
But, the bible says, Prv 14:8 The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way: but the folly of fools is deceit. And, Prv 15:5 A fool despiseth his father's instruction: but he that regardeth reproof is prudent.
Knowing what the end result of our ungodly ways will be, and choosing to continue that way, is the epitome of foolishness. In other words the person is a fool.
Prudent, or fool!!
Which one are you??
Let me give you the example of a fool, using the mentality of the common person.
We all know that smoking cigarettes, is hazardous to your health. There is no question about that. In fact, even before cigarette manufacturers finally admitted it, everyone knew it.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist, to realize that, when you take your first puffs of a cigarette, and inhale, your body reacts by coughing. That is its way of saying, 'Hey, I don't like this stuff!!' But, what do most people do?? They listen to friends, or others say, 'all you have to do, is keep doing it,
and the rejection will stop.' So, they continue, and the coughing stops. So they feel, they are a man, or woman, now, because they have passed the smoking test.
Years, or decades later, they find out that they have cancer, emphysema, or some other disease, that is the direct result of smoking, and the doctor tells them they need to stop, or face more dire consequences.
Well, the wise, and prudent person, starts taking steps to stop. The fool, on the other hand, says, 'No one lives forever, and you have got to die from something,' and thus continues to smoke.
A friend of mine, had a relative, I believe it was a aunt, who, because of smoking for decades, got some form of cancer, or one of the other diseases, where she had to have part of her throat, or voice box removed, and a hole put in, for her to breathe through, and I think, to be fed.
Anyway, this woman was so in to smoking, despite her condition, that she smoked through this tube. Call it addiction, or what you want, but this is what I would call, a fool.
Well, looking at what God has to say, about what will happen to us, not only in this life, but, the one yet to come, then, for a person, to take the attitude of, 'I don't care what God says, I like what I am doing, and I am not going to change my ways,' is just as bad as my friend's aunt.
All one has to do, is look at what is happening to people all around them, and see that, if they are of the ungodly sort, then, to think you can somehow escape the problems they have, by doing the same things they do, is just as bad.
I have heard it said, that 'the mark of a real fool, is to keep trying the same thing, over and over again, and expecting a different result.'
What does that have to say about a nation, that mostly rejects God, and His instruction, continuing to go down that path of destruction, and yet, seeing utopia???
It says we are a nation of fools. And, leading the pack, is the ungodly, with the so-called Christians, following a close second.
They talk about how they love the Lord, and thank Him for waking them up in the morning, clothed in their right minds, and all of the other traditional sayings that those that claim Christ as their Lord, do, then go right out, and cay, 'we need to have a separation of Church and state', which being translated means, we don't want God's influence, in the leadership of this nation.
Now, we wonder why we are having so many problems, not only abroad, but in this land. It is because, as we reject God, He will, in turn, reject us. And one only has to look in the old testament to see what happens to those that reject Him, even His chosen people.
We have absolutely no excuse, when it comes to our not being aware of the consequences of our actions. None.
Oh, except for one, and that is those spineless, gutless wonders that we call religious leaders, in this nation, that follow the ungodly, and their ways, and try to mix them in with the word of God.
What people wind up getting, is a watered down version of God's word, that looks so much like the world, that you can't tell them apart. That is, unless you have the Spiritual eyes to do so. Yet, even the ungodly, can sense a hypocrite, when they see one. God is calling us to come to Him, and get a good dose of 100% Proof, Instruction, so that we can be the victorious Children, that He intends for us to be.
