TRAGEDY IN THE CASINO
Recently, a patron, at one of the new casino's here in Detroit, killed himself after losing a large sum of money.

As far as I know, this is the first time, such a thing has happened.

A few days later, another patron, threatened to kill himself, because he had lost a lot of money. Fortunately for him, he was turned over to the authorities, which in turn, turned him over to a psychiatric hospital for evaluation.

Both of these incidents, underscore what many others, and myself have been saying, and that is, people may come to these casino's for fun, but, there are a few, who come for the fun, but can't handle losing. And when that happens, problems can arise.

The individual that killed himself, was either an off duty police officer, or an ex-police officer.

It is a sad state of affairs, when a person allows a game to overcome their common sense, and then drive them to do something drastic.

But, such is the case with any tool of the devil. It is designed to destroy you, and it will, if you let it.

Think about this for a moment. This man, took his own life, because he gambled and lost a great deal of money. Now, did he intend to lose it??? Of course not. As far as I know, no one ever gambles, to lose money. But, that is the nature of the game. You go in, hoping to win, even though the odds are against you. The only ones that win all the time, is the house, because that is the way things are set up.

What if this man, had decided to take his frustration out on the operator of the game that he was playing, or even one of the people he was playing against??? The results could have been a lot worse.

Then we have another person, a firefighter, if I am not mistaken, making some remarks to the effect, that he had lost so much, he felt like doing the same thing.

Well, those comments, landed him in trouble, and he was arrested, and turned over to a psychiatric hospital, for evaluation.

After the suicide, people's nerves are on edge, and they are taking any such talk of violence, even if it is said jokingly, very serious.

Now, they will probably have metal detectors at the doors, and have to search everyone that wants to enter, just to protect their investment, and customers.

Couple that with the fact that, some people that won a large sum of money, were robbed several miles away from the casino, by people that more than likely, were in the casino, watching to see who had a lot of money on them, then followed them somewhere and robbed them.

All of this, is the brand new way for bad things to happen, that are the cost of having casino's in our city.

Who will be the next victim??? In truth, we are all victims.
