THE GUN ISSUE

With the recent shootings in Colorado, as well as other cases of violence where guns are involved, there is a growing feeling that we need to do something about them. Even as I was writing this article, another shooting has occurred in Georgia.

The most common feeling is that we need to get rid of them, period. Then, there are those that say what needs to happen is that we teach gun safety to those that have them, or have access to them.

Well, while the first choice, is the best way to stop gun violence, it will never happen, so we can throw that out the window. The reason being, someone, will always have them. Government, and law enforcement officials, will need them to maintain order, because guns, even though the weapon of choice, are not the only things used to injure or kill someone. Next, the criminal element in our society, will still have them. If they are criminals, then why should they suddenly obey the law??? The only ones that would probably turn theirs in, are the law abiding citizens. And these are the ones that the criminal element in our society would find to be easy pickings.

In a society like ours, we have all sorts of people in our midst, that have mental problems, or are just plain ordinary folks, that have reached their limit of dealing with their problems, and are likely to explode. When that happens, 9 times out of 10, the police will only be there, after they have done whatever it is they are going to do. A lot of good that is going to do

There have been several shootings, where, if somebody had had a gun, far fewer lives would have been lost. I am thinking about the man that ran his truck, in to a restaurant, jumped out with a gun, and starting shooting people. Many lives were lost. Then we have the subway shooter, that started shooting people on the train, until his clip ran out, at which time, he was tackled and held for police. Many lives were lost in that one too. The shootings at Columbine high school, and many others where multiple lives were lost. If, in any of these situations, someone with a gun had been present, it is highly possible, the only ones that would have been killed, would have been the perpetrators. Then too, if the perpetrators had known that others in the school, were armed, then this tragedy may not have happened.

There are those that hold to the belief, that having people able to purchase guns, easily, would not be a deterrent to crime. They say there is no evidence that an armed citizenry, deters crime. Well, I beg to differ. There is proof positive, that is the dumbest thing any one could say. Here it is.

When is the last time, a criminal ever went up to a police officer in uniform, and tried to rob them??? What is the difference between them, and us??? They have a gun hanging on their side in plain view of everybody. Tell me that gun, doesn't make a person think long and hard about threatening them. Only a stone fool, and we do have some of them around, would ever attempt something like that. And, if we have someone like that in our midst, then they need to be under the jail, or six feet under.
Now, I know a lot of you are saying, hold on a minute. You are supposed to be a preacher. You are supposed to be showing the love of God. That 'fool' as you call them, needs Jesus, just like the rest of us.

Well, this is true. However, let us think about this, should anyone lose their lives at the hand of someone, that is being influenced by the devil, just so I can possibly witness to this person??? No. If I am to love my neighbor as myself, then, I should be willing to protect my neighbor from harm, just like I would protect myself, and my family. The only ones that a criminal really preys on, are the law abiding citizens, because they know that they, for the most part, are unarmed.

Then, if that threat isn't enough, even the government, who says they will protect us, can turn on us. Look at all the genocides that have been happening all over the world in the past and today in Kosovo. All of them have one thing in common. The citizens relied on the government to protect them. But, greedy men, got in control, and turned on those that they were protecting, and thousands, even millions, are now dead, and many more, homeless. If we look at Hitler, and in the present time Milosovich, in Kosovo. Look at all those that were run out of their home country. Not one of them had a gun to defend themselves, not one. Yet, we are told, once again, by the Democrats, to let the government take care of us. Yeah, right!! I wouldn't hold my breath.

God says that we need wisdom, and understanding on how to deal with certain things in life. The best way to prevent violence, is to be prepared for it. Madeline Albright, in addressing the problem of nuclear weapons being spread all over the world, said something to the effect that 'if all nations have them, then other nations would have to come to the fact that if they attacked another nation, they risk retaliation, just as bad as their attack." Now if she, can realize that, and she is Secretary of State, under Bill Clinton, then how can the Democrats turn around and say, more guns in society, would cause more crime???? Duuuhhhhhh!!! That is why the Democrats make me want to scream.

While they talk about adding more gun laws, think about this. The Brady bill,

which was supposed to stop people from buying guns, that were felons, has had 25,000 violations, under this administration, and 0, count it, 0 prosecutions. The point is, we don't need more laws, we simply need to enforce the laws we already have. Most of the judges that get cases, where they let the offenders off, are usually liberal Democrats

As I said before, the Democrats are not about to admit that they are wrong. They simply blame the Republican party, and know that most of us, are too lazy to check the records, and see just who all this blame lies on.

Some say Hollywood , and its multi million dollar movies, loaded with guns, has glorified them. So what does Clinton do, he goes to them and gets 1.5 million dollars for the Democratic party's coffers, and asks, them to go easy on the violence.

If it were a Republican, going to an NRA (National Rifle Association) meeting, and walking away with $1000.00 the Democrats would call them war mongers or something like that.

God warns us to not be ignorant of what the devil is trying to do, and the tricks he will use. And one of those tricks, is to get all law abiding citizens to turn in their weapons, and let the devil's cronies, take care of us.

Now, I am not a gun advocate, by any stretch of the imagination, but, I have a couple of guns in my house, and there are all grownups in the house. My daughter, knows to not touch either one, unless there is an absolute need, at which time, she will know what to do. Remember, 'guns don't kill or injure people, people do that, with guns.'

Now we also have states, suing gun manufacturers for the deaths and injuries their guns have caused, as if the gun malfunctioned or something. Why don't they sue the perpetrators of the crimes?? Because they don't have any money, so, go after the gun manufacturers. That's a Democrat idea.

Of course, if we were doing like we should, concerning the things that God says are right, then He would handle the situation. But, that is not the case. We sin against Him, and mock His laws and then, try to correct our own problems, which will only get worse, if we keep on like this. If criminals that were thinking about killing someone, knew for certain they would get the death penalty, as God instituted in Genesis 9:6, then there would be a lot more people still alive, today, because the killers, would have been thinking about losing their own lives. But, those that support the Democratic party, call it immoral and taking an eye for an eye.

Make no mistake about it, the biggest deterrent to crime, and governmental tyranny, is an armed citizenry, just as the second amendment states.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

In other countries, where genocides have occurred, the first thing that happened, is that the people were disarmed, so they couldn't defend themselves. This disarming, came about, because of governmental manipulation of the people through acts, designed to make the people want to get rid of their arms. Increases in crime, and violence, usually orchestrated by the government of these countries through starvation, economic calamity, and lowering moral standards, all of which caused these rises in crime, in which local officials, were unable to handle. Thus they called in the leaders of the nation, which used the military to come in, to maintain order. And, in order to do that, everyone, had to give up their weapons. Then, with the military in control, leaders had the power to do whatever they wanted, and no one could fight against them. That is what I see happening here.

With all the crime and violence going on around us, people want the government to do something. And, one thing they want, is for us to get rid of our only means of protection, guns.

One other reason for our having guns, is the slim possibility of invasion by a hostile country. Even though this is a remote possibility, it still is possible.

Imagine where this nation would be, if, when the British invaded us, and the people didn't have any means to fight. We would not be where we are today. We would, more likely, be under the rule of Great Britain. But, because the people were armed, we have the freedoms that we have today.
The majority of our problems, can be laid at the feet of one group of people, and their thinking, the liberal Democrats.

If our leaders really thought that guns are a problem, then why are they armed, or why do they have body guards?? Sharon
Stone, a Hollywood star, recently took it on herself to get rid of her guns. She called police to her house and turned over her guns to them, to have them destroyed. Now, she may not have any guns in her house, but she still has bodyguards. Maybe she should have them give up their guns as well.

Stupidity is running this nation. And, if we keep it up, it will destroy all of us.
