SUBJECT - EUROCLYDON, THE COMING STORM

To give you a little insight on this passage of scripture, the apostle Paul, is headed to Rome, to stand before Caesar, to make an appeal for freedom. He is under arrest, and facing imprisonment, and possible execution for preaching the gospel.

Paul was being transported by ship to Italy, when a great storm, called Euroclydon, came upon them. Paul, had warned the captain of the ship, before they set sail, that there was going to be danger. The reason he knew this, was that God had revealed to him what would happen, if they set sail. The captain, instead listened to the owner. As a result, they found themselves in the midst of this storm.

The storm, tossed the ship to and fro, and it was evident that the ship would not make it. The men started to panic.

But Paul, told them to not worry, but be of good cheer. Now he sounds like an idiot. The ship is sinking, and lives are in danger, but Paul says, 'be of good cheer.'

Why isn't he worried? Because an angel told him that he and the others would survive, if they followed His instructions. Well, with nothing to lose, they did, and they survived.

Today, we are on the sea of life, in our own little ships, called 'peace of mind', dealing with all types of little storms. What bill to pay? What dress to wear? What to fix for the unexpected guest that the husband or wife brought home? What car to buy, and such. For the most part, we go through life, riding on a sea, that gives us a little toss now and then, and we just ride it out, because we know that all will be well. After all, everything has worked out before.

Then, one day, something happens, that really gets our attention, Euroclydon, a major storm, comes to our lives, and threatens to tear our peace of mind, apart. It could be cancer. It could be AIDS. It could be divorce. The loss of a spouse, child, or parent. All of a sudden, just like the men on the ship, you steadily begin to lose hope. Nothing that you try, works. You see everything coming unglued. Your peace of mind, is being shattered. You don't know which way to turn.

What, you ask me, should I do? My advice, is the same advice that Paul gave. BE OF GOOD CHEER !!!

You say, 'now, you sound like an idiot. Can't you see I'm going through hell?!! BE OF GOOD CHEER !!! You say, 'the bills are stacking up, I just lost my job, and I'm going to lose my house." BE OF GOOD CHEER !!! 'The doctor says I have cancer." BE OF GOOD CHEER !!! 'He says I'm going to die, and not live.' BE OF GOOD CHEER !!! 'My spouse left me.' BE OF GOOD CHEER !!! 'My child is dealing drugs." BE OF GOOD CHEER !!!

Why?!!

Because God gave me a message for you. He says, 'FEAR NOT, FOR I AM WITH YOU, BE NOT DISMAYED, FOR I AM THY GOD. I WILL STRENGTHEN THEE, YEA I WILL HELP THEE, I WILL UPHOLD THEE, WITH THE RIGHT HAND OF MY RIGHTEOUSNESS. WHEN THOU PASSEST THROUGH THE WATERS, I WILL BE WITH THEE; AND THROUGH THE RIVERS, THEY SHALL NOT OVERFLOW THEE; WHEN YOU WALK THROUGH THE FIRE, YOU SHALL NOT BE BURNED, NEITHER SHALL THE FLAME, KINDLE UPON THEE.' (ISA. 41:10, 43:2).

This is God's promise to those of us that have accepted Christ as Lord of our lives. However, He has made a way for those of you that haven't.

You see, just because you are not saved, doesn't mean that God is going to leave you out there hanging.

If that was the case, then many of us, including myself, would have been dead a long time ago. That's right. At one time, I was one of the biggest devil's on the street.

Several times, I was facing death (Euroclydon). And God, sent an angel to protect me, and see me through. At that time, I didn't know it, but today, I do. Many of you know exactly what I am saying, because you are, or were in the same boat.

The thing is, the men in the ship, listened to Paul, and lived.

Will you listen to your parents, me, or some other messenger of Christ, and live?

God says that storms will come into all of our lives, (Matt. 5:45, 7:24-27). So don't think God is picking on you. However, the outcome of your situation, rests solely on you.

Most of the time, when faced with a bad situation, we will call on God, even though we have no real belief in Him. Other times, someone else, is praying for us. But, the final end result, rests solely on you.

What if those men, had not listened to Paul? They would have been destroyed. You could look at it like this, also. What if the captain, had listened to Paul, rather than the owner? They would not have had to go through, what they did.

How much mess, are you going through, or have gone through, was the result of your hard headedness? Your mother said, 'you better leave that slick boy alone, before he gets you in trouble?' Now you're pregnant. Mom said, 'don't mess around with those shady characters, they are up to no good.' Now you have been shot, or you are behind bars, after being in a place where drugs were being sold, and it was raided, or ripped off??

You are strung out on drugs. You have AIDS, or any one of a hundred or more scenarios. In each instance, God provided someone to give the warning, but you didn't listen.

Now, Euroclydon, has come, to 'rock your world.' You are sinking fast. The sea of life, is about to swallow you up. You are going down for the last time.

What to do?

Just holler, like Peter did, when he was sinking in the sea, "LORD JESUS, SAVE ME!!" And the bible says, Jesus reached out, and saved him (Matt. 14:25-33). For, whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord, shall be saved (delivered). Notice. in verse 32, it says, the storm ceased.

Euroclydon is coming my friend. Do you have someone standing by you, that can deliver you, and quiet the storm?

If not, you can go it alone, or BE OF GOOD CHEER. The choice, is entirely up to you.

Jesus is waiting for your response. All you have to do is ask Him in to your life with this simple prayer. "JESUS, I AM A SINNER, AND I AM SORRY FOR MY SINFUL WAYS. WILL YOU COME INTO MY HEART, AND CLEANSE ME FROM ALL MY SIN, AND BE LORD OF MY LIFE. I ACCEPT YOU AS LORD AND SAVIOR, AND WITH YOUR HELP, I WILL LIVE MY LIFE FOR YOU. I BELIEVE THAT YOU DIED ON THE CROSS FOR MY SINS, AND WAS RAISED FROM THE DEAD, FOR MY JUSTIFICATION."

If you prayed that prayer from the heart, meaning every word, you now have someone standing by your side to help you, when Euroclydon comes, and that is the best reason to, 'BE OF GOOD CHEER.' Now pass it on.
