WHY JESUS CHRIST??
SCRIPTURE - PSA. 34:8                                                               JUNE, 2002

O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.

SUBJECT - WHY JESUS CHRIST??

PLAY/DOWNLOAD

Sex, smoking, drugs, alcohol, crime, cults, and who knows what else.

What do all these things have in common?? If you are like most of the average people in this world, you were convinced to give one or more of these a try, for the first time, by something someone said, or something you saw or heard on the tube or radio.

In just about all of these instances, once you tried it, you liked it. Right??

In this day of information, we are hearing more and more about products, goods, services, and other things, that, without advertising, we would never know about. Some of these things would do us a lot of good, while others, may end up being disastrous to us.

But, in all of these instances, it was the advertising of these things that got us to at least give them a try. Sometimes, depending on how the advertisement is set up, we will drop everything and run to the phone, pull out the old credit card, and order it right then, sometimes going in to bad debt.

Why?? Because the ad sounded and looked, so good.

Advertisers, sometimes spend multiple millions, even billions of dollars, to advertise their products, because they want you to try them, and they are confident you will like it.

The key to all of these things, is that they are said to meet a need that you may have. Some times, the need is one that we didn't know we had. Before television, who ever knew we needed one?? Horses, were fine, to travel by, until cars, and planes came along. Now, who needs a horse, to travel by??

Now, my whole introduction in this message, follows the same line that all of those that advertise products use, and that is, I know someone, that like any of the other things that you have tried, far surpasses all of your needs, and that once you really give Him a try, you will be wondering why you waited so long.

Now, just so you know, I am going to give you all, well not all, but some of the reasons that you need to try Him. If I tried to list all of them, you would never be able to finish reading all of the books it would take to list them.

First, let's address the needs that you have.

The first need that you have, is the need to get back in right standing with God.

This is a need that you have, even though you may not know it.

Ever since the fall of Adam, mankind has been cursed by God, because of his, Adam's, disobedience, to God's commandment, Ge 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

Adam ate the fruit, and he, and all of his descendants, us, have to suffer, because of it. This suffering, carries with it, ALL of the bad things that have happened, are happening, and will continue to happen, until God, puts an end to it. Rom 5:19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners,.... so by the obedience of One shall many be made righteous.

Now, while we live here, in this life, God provides for those that are truly repentant, for their sinful ways, the strength, and peace of mind to not only bear these things, but to overcome them. 1Cor 10:13 There hath no temptation (test, trial, or trouble) taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation (test, trial, or trouble) also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. Rom 8:37 Nay, in all these things (including trouble), we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. Notice, the term above, common to man. This means that, nothing that happens to you, in the way of temptation, is any different than what happens to the unsaved, or sinner. Every single one of us, face the same problems.

Now, if we look at the way the world deals with their troubles, we will see, that many of the things they try, like drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, and other things, including sex, are things that are used, to help them deal with problems that come in to all of our lives.

When problems come upon the worldly minded individuals, including some Christians, they try to escape the problem by finding something that alters their perception of the problem, or totally makes them oblivious to it. However, in all of these instances, the problem never goes away, and is waiting for them when they come back to their senses. And, in too many instances, the problem has gotten worse.

This is one of the shortcomings, that solutions, apart from faith in Jesus Christ, has.

With Jesus, problems, are nothing more than, stepping stones, that are trodden under foot, to lift you up to higher places in your relationship to God, and in life.

Jesus, is bigger than any problem that you may encounter.

The bible says, Psa 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Now, the question is, 'How do you get God to be that very present help??' You need Jesus.

It is Jesus, who is the door that you must pass through, to get to the Father (God). Jesus says, John 10:9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. Also, in John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. This passage of scripture is significant, in that, it lets us know, that Jesus, is not one of the ways to get to God (the Father), HE IS THE ONLY WAY!!!! This is significant because it completely removes the idea that other religions, and gods, can accomplish the same things that Jesus lays claim to.

There are literally hundreds, if not thousands of religions in the world. And some of these religions, worship hundreds, if not thousands of different gods, and, all of them believe that they are just as viable, as true Christianity (total faith in Christ). THEY ARE NOT. Even in Christianity, there are many different denominations, and factions, that feel that their way is just as good as other ways, within the Christian faith. THEY ARE NOT.

Those that put 99% of their faith in Christ, and 1% in themselves, or some other form of man made doctrine, will find themselves missing out on some things that God has promised, even though they are still saved.

I don't have room to cover all of the blessings that God has promised to those that obey Him, but I will give you this scripture found in Isa 1:18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. Isa 1:19 If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:

This is a promise from God. A promise that He, and only He, can make. And He makes it to only those that choose to take Him up on His offer.

Now, just so you can catch the drift of what He is saying, He means that, if you will let go of all the other things that you trust in, for your peace of mind, and look to Him, and the path that He has outlined for all of us to follow, then, you will have Him on your side, and all of the good things that originally were given to the first Adam.

It's hard to present a picture of what all of this entails, but, if you think of it as, all of the best things that life has to offer, then you are getting the point.

Read Deuteronomy 28, the entire chapter, and you will see all of what God says you will have if you do what He says you should, vs. what you will experience, if you don't.

The world is full of people, that will acknowledge a God,, or gods or even a higher power. But, what they don't want to accept, is the fact that their perception of what God will accept as their worship of Him, (which is not really worship, but more along the lines of giving Him an occasional crumb of worship, when they feel like it), is just as unacceptable as it is, worshipping other gods.

Other religions, try to make it appear that they are just as acceptable to God as faith in Christ. Some even will acknowledge Christ, but only as one of many paths to God. But, if you think that is the way to go, then you are mistaken.

Think of it like this. If you have a house, and you are the head of that house, you will usually have set rules for the rest of the family to follow. You may not allow smoking, drinking alcohol, drug use, or other things to go on within the walls of your house by your family. Now, if that applies to your family, then it most definitely applies, or should apply, to someone that comes by to visit. That, is only right.

I know of people who will have their grown children, brothers and sisters, parents, and other grown relatives, go outside to smoke, even in the dead of winter, because they are that dogmatic about it, and that is the right thing to do. How are they going to enforce the rules over their own family, and then let strangers come in and do as they please??

Well, the earth is God's, and everything in it (1Cor 10:26 For the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof.) Therefore, He is the head of the house (so to speak). Therefore, just as you don't have different sets of rules for different people that come in to your house, neither does God. If you persist to want to do, contrary to what God says, you will have to do it, outside, where it is hot, or cold (or where God's blessing isn't), and you will be at the mercy of the devil. And the only way to be in the house, (or in God's blessing, or grace), is through Jesus Christ, and Him alone.

With Jesus on your side, you have God on your side, and, like the bible says, Rom 8:31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who (or what) can be against us?

When you have God on your side, you have someone that can totally overcome anything that could come against you. Sickness, disease, persecution, trouble, worry, fear, poverty, and even death and the grave, are no match for Him. 1Cor 15:55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?

There is victory in Jesus. There is peace in Jesus. There is love in Jesus. There is healing in Jesus. There is deliverance in Jesus. There is hope in Jesus. And most of all, there is salvation and eternal life, in Jesus.

In this tract, I haven't even begun to scratch the surface of what God has for you. 1Cor 2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him.

Who wouldn't want to take advantage of an offer like this?? Who, among you, is dealing with tragedy? heartbreak? loneliness? sickness? infirmity?

If this was an advertisement on TV or radio, I'd be calling in with credit card in hand. But, it can't be bought. The offer is free. All you have to do, is ask for it.

Imagine that. Free!!! A deal like the one I have described ,, is one that not even the richest man in the world could afford, and yet, here it is, free of charge. Tell me that isn't a good deal.

All the money in the world couldn't buy it. So, the poorest among us, can have what the rich can't buy. That, my friends is what is called the most level of playing fields.

And just how, you may be asking, do you go about taking advantage of this free offer?? You do it by accepting it. That's right!! All you have to do is accept it, on the terms that God has outlined.

You say, ' I knew there was a catch. No one gives something away, for nothing. There have to be some strings attached.'

Let me ask you this?

How much money have you spent on drugs?? Did they help?? What about alcohol?? Did it help?? Cigarettes?? Did they help?? Doctors?? Did they help?? Lawyers? Did they help??

You are going to die one day, just like all of those before you. And just like them, you will have to stand in front of a God, that will be looking for His Son to either acknowledge you, or send you in to eternal damnation. What will all of those vices, and people be able to do for you then??

For all you know, this may very well be the last day of your life. And, once you leave here, you are beyond help, if you are not saved.

Are you willing to pass up the one offer that can really far surpass even what I have labored to present to you in this short message??

If you want to accept it, just pray 'Jesus Christ, come in to my heart, and cleanse me of all my sin. I believe that you died on the cross, for my sin, and rose again for my justification. I accept you as Lord of my life, right now, and from this day forward. Amen.'
