ONE CLINTON LEAVES, AND ANOTHER COMES!!!

For the first time in history, a former first lady, will hold an elected office in government.

Hillary Clinton, wife of outgoing president, Bill Clinton, will be taking the office of Senator for New York, in Washington.

Mrs. Clinton, won the seat this past November, after a hard fought race, that she waged, with two opponents.

Her first, and primary opponent, New York mayor Rudolph Giulianni, had to withdraw his bid for the seat after it was learned that he had prostate cancer.

The man that took his place, well in to the campaign season, really didn't have enough time to wage a good enough campaign, and was soundly defeated.

What kind of Senator Mrs. Clinton will make, remains to be seen. However, we got a little inkling from her, as to what she felt should be near the top of the Bush administration's agenda, and that is the elimination of the electoral college system, which, she feels, unfairly gave the victory to George Bush, even though Al Gore, won the popular vote.

Another thing, when she first came to Washington, as 'first lady', she tried to get a National Health Care Plan implemented. Bill, gave her charge over the whole thing, and it proved to be the biggest mess that there was, and was soundly defeated.

Now that she is a senator, and the Democrats, and Republicans have a 50-50 split, in the Senate, she, in effect, is still in the minority, yet, she is better known, and will probably have a lot of input in to future legislation.

Some have said, that if she does good in the Senate, it could be possible that she may try to run for President, in the near future.

Mrs. Clinton, who is not a native of New York, moved there, or rather, took up residence there, at the urging of many in the Democratic party, to fill the seat being vacated by another Democrat, Robert Byrd.

The Democrats didn't want to see a Republican get that seat, and they knew that no one else could have a chance to get it, except a well known person, that could challenge Mayor Giulianni, who was expected to run.

It's kind of curious, the way they did it. It's not illegal, but it does raise questions about the tactics that were used for her to get residency, so she could get on the ballot.

Anyway, we will have to wait and see what happens.

Another thing, what will Bill be doing now, while she is in the spotlight ???
